Çelebi Technical Maintenance Workshop became the first Gold LEED-Certified building at Istanbul Airport

Çelebi Hava Servisi A.Ş.  successfully implemented all the necessary requirements for “Sustainable and environmentally friendly facility regulations” into its Technical Maintenance Workshop Building and got rewarded with the Gold Certificate by global green building protocol “LEED”.

In addition to Çelebi Technical Maintenance Workshop, which is the first and only Gold LEED-certified building among the facilities in Istanbul Airport, Çelebi Cargo Warehouse Building also met the required specifications to be eligible for the Silver LEED certificate in the previous months. The purpose of this certification is to create green, sustainable and environment-friendly buildings, said the Çelebi Aviation Global Procurement and Construction Director, Arzu Büyükdurmuş Yaşa, and ÇHS Construction Project Manager, Mehmet Mahir Sucularlı, while sharing information about this certification process.

ENVIRONMENTAL SENSITIVITY THROUGH EVERY PHASE

Mrs. Yaşa claimed that during the construction phase they preferred to use materials with reportedly environmental impacts. Construction waste was separated into 5 different groups and sent to recycling as part of the waste management plan.

She highlighted that 94% of waste was recycled: “We also focused on recycling after the construction period and designed our facility accordingly. We distributed Recycling bins for everyone to participate in transporting waste to the Recycling Facilities, within the scope of the Waste Management Plan. We also preferred cooling and air conditioning equipment that makes the least impact on global warming and the ozone hole as part of the energy conservation. In addition, by choosing facade elements with low coefficient of heat transmission and high efficiency pumps & fans, we saved 29% and 32% energy in our workshop and warehouse buildings respectively.’’ Mrs. Yaşa explained

Gerry’s dnata Expands Offering; Launches Line Maintenance Services in Pakistan

Karachi, Pakistan, 13 January 2022 – Gerry’s dnata, Pakistan’s leading ground services provider, has expanded its offering. The company obtained Maintenance Organization Approval from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority to provide aircraft line maintenance services to airline customers, and now offers a one-stop-shop of ground handling, cargo and technical services at the airports of Karachi (KHI), Lahore (LHE) and Islamabad (ISB). 

Gerry’s dnata’s team of professionals can provide full line maintenance support and are trained on customers’ company procedures, providing a seamless service to both passenger and cargo airlines.

The launch customer is flydubai, which Gerry’s dnata already serves at four airports in Pakistan providing a range of ramp and passenger handling services to the airline and its customers.
