The liberalization of Africa’s transport sector

The liberalization of Africa’s aviation sector to seize on new growth opportunities was a key topic of debate at the 11th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s Air Services Negotiation (ICAN2018) event in Nairobi, Kenya.

TIACA’s Vladimir Zubkov met with regulators from both ICAO and the Kenya Aviation Authority (KAA), which was hosting the week-long event in the African nation’s capital.

Joining Zubkov at the event were numerous air cargo dignitaries including ICAO’s Director Air Transport Bureau, Boubacar Djibo, and TIACA Board member Sanjeev Gadhia, who is also Chief Executive Officer of Astral Aviation Ltd – who all made presentations.

The discussions centered around the benefits of aviation to economies, especially through the liberalization of air cargo services, and what States and aviation stakeholders can do to support the removal of regulatory barriers, impediments, and constraints.
