James “Jim” Jackson was educated at The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and, after serving in the U.S. Army, he joined American Airlines for a successful 38-year career until his retirement in 1993.
Notable achievements include time as chair of: The Society of Automotive Engineers’ (SAE) Air Cargo committee (AGE-2A); the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Unit Load Devices Board; SAE’s Air Cargo Forum (ACF); and the ISO Air Cargo and Ground Equipment technical committee.
Awarded the Franklin W. Kolk Air Transportation Progress Award for 2001, he was one of the founders of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and subsequently served as TIACA’s Treasurer, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Chairman of the Technical Committee.
