CANADIAN NORTH TO UNVEIL STATE-OF-THE-ART 737NG FULL-FLIGHT SIMULATOR AND AVIATION TRAINING FACILITY AT EDMONTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

July 15, 2024

On the morning of Wednesday, July 17, Canadian North Airlines will officially unveil our new, state-of-the-art Boeing 737NG Full-Flight Simulator and 30,000 square foot training center at Edmonton International Airport (YEG), with support from our partners at YEG, CAE and EFC Developments.

We will host an opening celebration, with speeches from representatives of Canadian North, our partners and government stakeholders, followed by the opportunity to see our simulator in action. Respected Inuit elder Maina Manniapik will light a ceremonial Qulliq (a traditional oil lamp) and provide a blessing.
Full program details and interview opportunities will be provided onsite.

Canadian North is a 100% Inuit-owned airline that provides essential passenger and cargo service to remote communities across the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Nunavik from our southern gateways of Edmonton, Ottawa and Montreal. We are also an industry-leading charter provider.
The launch of this new training facility is a substantial achievement that will contribute to the long-term success of our airline, for the benefit of everyone who depends on us.

This facility will also provide new, urgently needed flight simulator capacity for Canada’s aviation industry in the face of an ongoing pilot shortage and is a significant addition to the diversifying economies of Alberta and the Edmonton Region.
There is potential and a vision to grow this facility further, with ample space available for additional aviation training infrastructure in the future.

Wednesday, July 17, from 9:30 am to noon. Media are encouraged to arrive at 9:00 am, to capture footage of the simulator before the event begins.
