Drone Service Providers and Shipping Container Solutions Dominate 2020 TIACA Air Cargo Sustainability Awards

On December 10, TIACA celebrated outstanding solutions and products spearheading air cargo into a more sustainable and responsible future.

Pelican BioThermal, a producer of durable and reusable temperature-controlled shipping containers CrēdoTM, won the Corporate prize – a year in the TIACA Sustainability Strategic Partnership program, worth USD 10,000. The two runners-up skypooling and VRR also presented solutions in the area of sustainable shipping containers.

Nepal Flying Labs won in the Start-up category for their Drone Optimized Therapy System (DrOTS) which flies humanitarian and medical cargo drones to remote and hard to reach locations in Nepal. As an up-and-coming start-up, Nepal Flying Labs will receive a USD 10,000 prize. The two runners-up BeOn IoT and Drone Delivery Canada will be recognized with USD 2’500 each.

This year TIACA received 23 applications for the awards with many outstanding businesses outlining solutions in carbon and waste reduction, drones, humanitarian aid, packaging, ULDs, process efficiencies, people focus and COVID-19 relief.

The second edition of TIACA’s sustainability awards ceremony took place online due to COVID-19 related restrictions. However, an in-person ceremony is planned at the next possible physical TIACA event in 2021.
