Global Logistics System Introduces Real-Time Customs Clearance Status Via IATA ONE Record to its EzyCargo and EzyCustoms
October 17, 2025
New integration takes uncertainty out of waiting for manual customs updates, enhancing efficiency.
HONG KONG, FRIDAY, 17 OCTOBER, 2025 – Global Logistics System (HK) Company Limited (GLS) is proud to be the world’s first ONE Record solution provider to integrate and deploy Customs clearance updates via IATA ONE Record data transfer protocols, bringing unprecedented visibility and efficiency to the air-cargo shipment journey, and setting a new standard for digital innovation in the logistics industry.
By leveraging EzyCargo and EzyCustoms platforms, backed by ONE Record, GLS’s airline and forwarder partners can now access real-time customs clearance status the moment it is issued by destination Customs authorities.
This move not only adds a vital air cargo stakeholder to the shipment journey; it has also enabled Cathay Cargo to become the first airline to introduce real-time Customs clearance updates to its customers subscribed to the EzyCargo platform.
Press Release
GLS Chief Executive Simon Ng said: “At GLS, ONE Record is not merely a concept or a range of pilot initiatives – it’s a transformative enabler of transparent and real-time data sharing across the air cargo supply chain, and the backbone of a fully digital air cargo industry. We are committed to bringing ONE Record to life through real-world implementation, setting a benchmark in seamless digital collaboration and operational excellence.”
With many Customs authorities requiring PLACI (pre-load advanced cargo information), which means that shipments cannot be loaded until the destination Customs authority has given the go-ahead, this new process adds time-saving visibility for forwarders. Similarly, most authorities require another approval layer before releasing shipments after arrival. Now, this process will be seen by customers with real-time live messages.
Previously, accessing this information was reliant on manual status updates from ground handling agents. Being able to access these updates independently and in real-time enables customers to take any appropriate remedial actions, or to work around delays caused by Customs inspections.
The current scope of the new initiative will give users clearance status from Customs authorities, including Europe (ICS2 Import Control System), the US, Canada and United Arab Emirates. The statuses will be treated as ONE Record “Logistic Events” so that customers know if their shipment is still pending, being assessed, is permitted to load or not, and at the destination if a shipment is being held for inspection or has been released for collection.
Ng added: “By leveraging the ONE Record-backed EzyCargo platform, our forwarder partners can access real-time customs clearance status the moment it is transmitted from relevant Customs authorities to the airlines. This eliminates any possible delay of message relays through the airlines due to whatever legitimate reasons, significantly enhancing operational efficiency for both our airline and forwarder partners.”
While the Customs Clearance Status feature represents a critical milestone, it is only the first step in GLS’s roadmap. More ONE Record applications such as Piece-level Tracking will be integrated and deployed in the future, providing a future-ready advantage to a global community of more than 11,000 EzySuite subscribers, enhancing their efficiency, resilience and ability to thrive in the evolving air cargo industry.
