Hactl Receives 2026 Air Cargo Sustainability Award for Corporate Excellence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Miami, June 16, 2026

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is proud to announce that Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) received the 2026 Air Cargo Sustainability Award – Corporate Category, sponsored by CHAMP Cargosystems.

The award was presented during the TIACA Executive Summit 2026, held in Warsaw, Poland from June 1-3, where more than 320 air cargo professionals gathered to discuss the future of the industry and celebrate excellence in innovation, leadership, and sustainability.

Hactl was recognized for its groundbreaking initiative, “Redefining Cargo Packaging Through Circular Materials,” which aims to transform cargo packaging through the use of aviation-grade polyethylene cargo films manufactured using post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials.

The initiative represents a significant step forward in reducing plastic waste within the air cargo supply chain, with the ultimate goal of achieving 100% recycled packaging in air cargo operations. Through its pioneering efforts, Hactl has become the world’s first air cargo terminal to successfully develop and laboratory-validate a 100% PCR cargo film capable of meeting the demanding mechanical and operational requirements of air cargo handling.

The achievement demonstrates how sustainability and operational excellence can work hand-in-hand, creating scalable solutions that can be adopted throughout the global cargo ecosystem.

“Hactl has sustainability built into its DNA. We will continue to innovate to stay ahead of the game, working closely with like‑minded partners who share our commitment to sustainability, driving meaningful change across the air cargo industry. stated, Frosti Lau, Chief Executive of Hactl

“Hactl’s achievement demonstrates the type of bold thinking and commitment that will help shape the future of our industry. Their work proves that sustainability challenges can be addressed through innovation, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge traditional approaches. We are delighted to recognize Hactl’s leadership and congratulate the entire team on this remarkable accomplishment.” said, Roos Bakker, TIACA Chair

“The quality of submissions received for this year’s Sustainability Awards once again highlighted the incredible progress being made across our industry. Hactl’s initiative stood out for its practical application, measurable environmental benefits, and potential for broader adoption across the global supply chain. This is exactly the type of innovation the Air Cargo Sustainability Awards were created to recognize and celebrate.” added, Glyn Hughes, TIACA Director General

“At CHAMP, we are proud to support the Air Cargo Sustainability Awards and recognize initiatives such as Hactl’s, which demonstrate how innovation can deliver both environmental and operational progress. Their achievement in advancing circular packaging solutions reflects the kind of practical, scalable approach our industry needs to reduce its environmental footprint. Through continued collaboration across the air cargo ecosystem, we can accelerate meaningful change. Hactl’s work sets a strong example for others to follow.” stated Manuel Galindo, CEO, CHAMP Cargosystems.

The TIACA Air Cargo Sustainability Awards continue to recognize organizations that are delivering measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits while advancing the sustainability objectives of the global air cargo community.

TIACA encourages companies, organizations, start-ups, and innovators from across the air cargo supply chain to begin considering submissions for the2027 Air Cargo Sustainability Awards. The next call for entries is expected to be announced toward the end of this year, providing another opportunity for industry leaders to gain global recognition for their sustainability achievements and innovations.
