After a lifetime career in the industry, Jacques Ancher led KLM Cargo for over 10 years prior to his retirement in 1999.
He is credited with changing the way air cargo was perceived in many airline boardrooms, stimulating an industry-wide recognition of the importance of air cargo to the business and financial well-being of all its participants; airlines, integrators, and logistics professionals.
The changes he sought and engineered were designed to assure a viable, contributing air cargo business for combination carriers. He was one of the first to segment products and dedicate specialists to them.
He was a bold, innovative and creative leader, unafraid of taking risk to demonstrate the need for change if cargo was to remain relevant to scheduled passenger airlines.
