Another thing which I wanted to bring to your attention is the development by ICAO The Public Health Corridor Concept (PHCC). It was done within the framework of the Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA). The complete version of the recently released document: “IMPLEMENTING A PUBLIC HEALTH CORRIDOR TO PROTECT FLIGHT CREW DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC (CARGO OPERATIONS)” is enclosed.

Dr. Ansa Jordaan, the Chief of the Aviation Medicine Section at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) who is managing the CAPSCA programme and was overseeing the development of it, asked TIACA to give comments, and we did with the help of some of our members.

One of the key objectives of The Public Health Corridor Concept PHCC is to provide for consistent and appropriate COVID-19 border measures being applied to flight crew. If they differ in different countries and airports it could result in the disruption to the air cargo supply chain during the pandemic. Governments should follow harmonized hygiene standards for crews, aircraft and airport facilities so authorities have the confidence to freely allow passage of air cargo flights with essential medical supplies and food. The Public Health Corridor Concept describes how to manage, from an aviation perspective, essential flights that would ‎allow aircraft and crew to perform with minimal additional burdens, ‎while maintaining flight safety and preventing the transmission of COVID-19.

Gerry’s dnata Expands Offering; Launches Line Maintenance Services in Pakistan

The company obtained Maintenance Organization Approval from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority to provide aircraft line maintenance services to airline customers, and now offers a one-stop-shop of ground handling, cargo and technical services at the airports of Karachi (KHI), Lahore (LHE) and Islamabad (ISB). 

Gerry’s dnata’s team of professionals can provide full line maintenance support and are trained on customers’ company procedures, providing a seamless service to both passenger and cargo airlines.

The launch customer is flydubai, which Gerry’s dnata already serves at four airports in Pakistan providing a range of ramp and passenger handling services to the airline and its customers.
