From the Desk of the Chair

Dear fellow air cargo practitioners,

This letter is the first of a series in which I want to express the thoughts of the leading organization of the air cargo industry concerning the emerging challenges and opportunities for the air cargo industry. The subsequent letters will address, in more detail, critical industry issues.

In my address at TIACA’s Executive Summit I recognized that Poland is a nation that has rebuilt itself time and again with resilience, resourcefulness and an unbreakable spirit. That is my message to the worldwide air cargo industry. I challenge everyone to leverage our unbreakable commitment to serving our customers around the world by committing to adapt to new challenges with a focus on resilience and sustainability.

The presentations at the gathering under the title of “The Future Won’t Wait – Act Faster. Move Smarter. Lead Louder” focused on important issues that the worldwide air cargo industry must address and embrace.

We, members of the worldwide air cargo industry, know that air cargo moves the world. It connects continents, supports economies and delivers what truly matters – sometimes in the most literal sense. The decisions we make today shape that future.

I look forward to seeing collaboration ignite synergies and innovations while welcoming more women and younger generations. A diversity of colleagues is key to keep up with the world.

We must embrace new ideas, break down barriers and build the future with courage. The industry has gone through many changes. We must continuously recognize and understand the changes and identify and develop new opportunities to serve our customers.

Most importantly, despite our focus on the use of digital tools, including Artificial Intelligence, we must not lose sight that behind every shipment, every innovation and every success, there are people. People who collaborate, learn, create and connect. The air cargo industry was built on a culture where everyone feels heard, where there is room for diversity of thought, and where we support, respect and trust one another. This culture is our strength and must be closely guarded.

And in my view, we must continue to do this with a mindful eye on our beautiful world. Sustainability is no longer a choice — it is a responsibility. For all of us. As a global sector, we can make a difference: by developing cleaner solutions, increasing operational efficiency and by acting responsibly towards the planet we share. As we all know, sustainable businesses ensure employment for our people and improved and innovative services for our customers.
