November 16, 2020
The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has appointed Eng. Naif Ali Al Abri, CEO, TRANSOM to its Board of Directors, the Association’s governing body.
Al Abri brings a decade of industry experience in high-level operational roles in engineering and project management with TRANSOM, Oman Air and Oman Power and Water Procurement Company. Al Abri is the new CEO of TRANSOM dedicated to delivering the highest level of aviation related services in Oman. TRANSOM encompasses TRANSOM Handling, TRANSOM SATS Cargo, TRANSOM Catering, Muscat Duty Free, Majan Lounge and TRANSOM Hospitality.
“Our membership as Trustee since 2018 allows us to develop new regional and global partnerships, as TIACA is the umbrella of the international cargo entities and offers unparalled business development opportunities. TIACA’s vision and our active contribution to the Association’s agenda is in line with the Sultanate’s National Air Cargo Strategy and Oman’s vision 2040 for the future development of the air cargo sector, which is flourishing in terms of new facilities and volume growth.

The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic proved the vital role of the air cargo system in supplying and supporting healthcare systems, online retail, and many other sectors. Air cargo has not only contributed to the survival of global air traffic but has also prevented countries from a complete halt in the exchange of goods and supplies. TIACA has done remarkable work during this period to highlight the essential role of air cargo, in cooperation with relevant international organizations, especially ICAO and IATA as well as government entities. I am honored to join the Board of Directors and I look forward to working closely with all members to ensure TIACA reaches new horizons.” Eng. Naif Al Abri
Al Abri joins a diverse group of 13 Board members, representing airlines, airport operators, ground handlers, freight forwarders, IT solution providers and shippers.
“TIACA is a global organization that is representative of all stakeholders and we look for new Board Members that bring fresh perspective, push for innovation, quality and sustainability. We feel that the experience Eng. Naif Al Abri brings to the Board as a leader in ground handling representing Gulf region at the Board level will be an invaluable asset to the Board.” Steven Polmans, Chairman, TIACA.
In a continuing effort to ensure a fair and regionally balanced representation of the entire air cargo industry, TIACA continues calling for new members to join the Board with currently 4 empty seats available. Trustee members can propose a new candidate, followed by an official acceptance of the entire Board of Directors by voting.
